This month we're doing something completely different: we're joining forces with acclaimed Baltimore rapper and poet Wordsmith for a fusion of classical virtuosity and hip-hop storytelling.

Together we created a program where the music of Bizet, Prokofiev, and the Beatles share the stage with Wordsmith's sublime artistry. Wordsmith's spoken word reflects on themes of transformation and rebirth and will augment several of our selections, including our minimalism-inspired, cosmic depiction of "Neptune" from Holst's The Planets. And we've created a brand new co-collaboration with Wordsmith, "Aurora Rise," which we'll premiere on the program's second half devoted to light and awakening, alongside our glittering takes on songs by Leonard Cohen and Sigur Rós.
